Step 7: Promote your book

Getting your book in front of readers who don't know it exists yet

TikTok

"BookTok" is one of the most active reader communities online — short videos about what you're reading (or writing) routinely drive real sales.

BookBub

A large book-deals newsletter with a huge subscriber base — a featured deal here is one of the most sought-after (and competitive) promotions in indie publishing.

FreeBooksy / BargainBooksy

Sister newsletters promoting free and discounted ebook deals to subscribers — a more accessible entry point than BookBub for a first promotion.

BestBookMonkey

A book promotion service for indie authors.

A word of caution: book promotion is also where most scam attempts show up — unsolicited emails offering reviews, features, or "guaranteed" sales. The services above are ones you go looking for, not ones that cold-email you. If someone reaches out to you unprompted instead, that's exactly what the next step is for.

Move on to Step 8: Watch out for scams.
